Convert person to company
Allow me to change a record from a person to a company. When I import records, especially from Twitter, it brings them in as people, but many of them are companies or organizations, some of whom are listed in Nimble.

Please make this happen... it seems to be a fairly common concern that, when eliminated, would really help active Twitter users enjoy your service even more. Cheers!

Yes please this is a major issue, thanks

Yes, really need to be able to convert people to companies in Nimble. On import from other services, many companies are listed as people. A feature like this is really important

Hey I would like to vote on this too. This is a very important. It makes a big difference whether this app is a valid sales management tool for us. I have imported all these Twitter contacts in and need some way to make them companies.... have you closed votes because it is coming. If so, it would be a good idea to post an update!

I would love to vote for this, but you have closed voting. Why do you do this? What this means is that you incorrectly show lower demand, and dont capture the needs of people who sign up to nimble afterwards!

Have to be honest - around two hours into a trial of Nimble and lack of this feature is killing me already. Offering a mass Twitter import and making what for most of us is likely to be a company Twitter feed a "person" is not really clever. What's also not clever is giving me no way of converting over a thousand "people" to companies.
It is quite potentially a deal breaker for us and I haven't even added any other users yet. It's something present in almost every other online CRM out there, and fairly basic to implement - as someone said simply by leaving the contact field blank and only entering a company name.
I should think it's something that affects particularly new users - so how about at least offering a "how to guide" that would walk us through exporting everything and re-importing it correctly?
It's a crying shame as Nimble has a really great feel so far that is missing in many others.

Yep, another really important feature that's missing.
Was loving Nimble but now there seems to be some really obvious features missing. It's also a common thread to see developers taking years to respond or worse still, not at all.

I wanted to vote for this but you have closed voting.
Why would you not offer this?
The most common use-case is using the Chrome widget and accidentally creating a person instead of a company. It's pretty infuriating how often that happens.

Would have voted for this today - if voting was open. When will you be adding this feature? Clearly it is still wanted by many. Thanks.

Please Add this feature, it would streamline the contact editing process.

This would be a huge help to our company.
Please, please put it on the roadmap asap.
I agree with others, I think people will leave without it.
Thanks, Helen -

I'm sorry to see voting for this is closed. I'm in the trial period and the lack of this feature is killing me. As an example, I work with a lot of charities and people who volunteer with charities. Importing volunteers along with their regular work companies litters my contacts with companies I don't need or want to see. Since these people aren't working for the charity as an employee, they just need to be associated with it in some way. I also follow charities where I don't have an individual contact, but i need to keep track of their events and activities. I should be able to have XYZ Foundation treated like a person to get the reminder to keep in touch after a certain period of time.

Duuuuuuuuude the only option is to copy and paste from many fields, delete, then add it all back in as a company????? that is really dumb. Just let the company catagory be triggered by a lack of name field!!!! Come onn!!!!

Robert, I'm sure people left because this hasn't been implemented yet and it's a shame, but it's expected when we don't deliver on a request that has been around for a few years.
Paul, I appreciate your feedback regarding the Top 3 rankings..I agree that it’s irrelevant to rank a Company as opposed to only Poeple.
We have built many new functions into Nimble that were never on the UserVoice forum. We don’t use this to solely drive our Product vision at all and that was not how I intended my answer to be interpreted.
The goal of the UV forum is to receive feedback from our users on functions that we might have missed on our product roadmap, enhancements to current features, and new features that users want in Nimble.
This is also a place for UI/UX feedback from our users because certain things could be overlooked in the initial specification phase, such as converting people to companies.
Jon and I understand that this function is more significant than a simple feature enhancement, and we want to bring it into Nimble. When it’s on the roadmap, I will update this thread to let all of you know.
I’m happy to meet one on one to fully understand your use-case and present it to the Product team. I’m here to enhance the experience of Nimble for our users, and I’ve worked on the support-side for over two years at Nimble. I understand your needs and I’ll fight to get this prioritized.
Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks Joseph, good reply. I appreciate you having your product roadmap and yes, my Dell scenario more substantial than this particular issue but it's dependent on this.
I suppose I'm reacting to your earlier, May, reply that you, "hope to implement most of the features that our large user base votes for, but we prioritize these features based on the number of votes." Uservoice is great for feature requests, enhancements, and bug issues; helping prioritize what you work on based on demand for those things; but it is pretty awful with regard to innovation and planning for what the industry really needs/wants. You're coming across as saying we have no vision, we only do what people vote for; I'm sure that's not the case, but it is what you're saying.
I'm trying to grasp why you think this is a feature/enhancement that people want and will create value for everyone and not something more significant. If People and Companies can't be corrected to what they actually are, the user experience craters, I gave up using Nimble because it kept asking me to rank Companies in my contact database. If you don't fix that, not only is that annoying, but you aren't managing for people the Dell scenario, you can't. So... why would anyone use this? These aren't independent features and user issues/requests; this is stuff that radically changes what Nimble is capable of doing and gives you a major advantage and distinction over competitors - of what relevance are votes to that?
